Star Trek: Hidden Frontier / Intrepid Crossover!

The teams behind the Star Trek fan series Hidden Frontier and Intrepid have joined forces for a massive feature-length epic, Operation Beta Shield, which debuted this week. Many Trek fan film fans still mourn the passing of HF, which ended its seven-year run in 2007, so this new production is being greeted with open arms across Federation space.

The plot, to quote the filmmakers, is:

Fear of another invasion by the mysterious Archein Empire from the Andromeda Galaxy is running high. In order to setup a line of defense against impending invasion, a shield of allied power must be forged in the Beta Quadrant. Can the allies work together in defense of the Beta Quadrant or will old hostilities re-emerge and shatter the chances for peace and co-operation?

There’s plenty of versions to be downloaded from the website—you can choose to download the episode to your hard drive, or watch it in your web browser, and then there’s Dial-Up Resolution (258mb) and Full-Resolution (747mb), plus a downloadable preview (24mb), the same preview on YouTube, and even a downloadable smattering of bloopers (25mb). Give ‘em a look and share your review of it below in the comments!
