NYCC 2008 Fan Film Panel Hits YouTube

Way back in the Dark Ages—OK, April—I hosted a panel of some of the brightest stars in the fan film universe at the New York Comic Con. We got nearly 300 people in audience for the event, and despite technical glitches, it went so well that I was inspired to bring this blog back from the dead, so your daily reading enjoyment is directly attributable to that event. And now a tiny portion of it is online in video form.

What made the panel so much fun was the diversity of the panelists; we had:
• the old-school calm of Dan “The Real Spider-Man” Poole
• the Star Wars fervor of Adam Bertocci
• the outrageousness of Chris Notarile of Blinky Productions
• the arched eyebrow of college professor Dan Galiardi
• the historical (hysterical?) expounding of, well, me
• …and the tell-it-like-@#$%!-is attitude of fan film journalist Fanboy Will.

Now you can see for yourself—at least a little bit—as , showing some of the intro to the panel. We were just getting started, so it’s not as raucous as it eventually became, but sometimes things take awhile to get rolling. Sadly one of my best one-liners of the day gets cut off mid-sentence at the end of one clip. Thanks to Fanboy Will’s girlfriend for uploading them to YouTube!

In the meantime, if you want to hear more of the panel, go visit the Fan Film Podcast and dredge out Episode 11, which features audio from most of the event (again, I’m virtually non-existent in it ’cause the recorder wasn’t turned on until after I’d done my part of the presentation—I know, you’re losing sleep over it, since you won’t hear me flog my fan film book, , mercilessly).
