Monday is usually ‘News Day’ at FCT, but we have a late-breaking story today:
Starship Farragut, the long-awaited and much-hyped Star Trek fan series, will premiere its first episode with a public screening, followed by a Q&A panel, at this weekend’s Farpoint 2007 Sci-Fi Convention in Baltimore.
The series’ pilot, The Captaincy, is based around the crew of the U.S.S. Farragut, commanded by Captain John T. Carter, and takes place during the time of Star Trek: The Original Series. Early reports from the Farragut production camp indicated that the episode would include reportedly the first fan-film crossover, as the storyline would involve sets and players from Star Trek: New Voyages. Whether that took place is unknown at this time; another upcoming fan production, Star Trek: Of Gods and Men filmed on the New Voyages sets last summer.
The screening wil take place at 1 PM; the panel that follows–a discussion of the film with the executive producer, cast and crew–will include John Broughton, executive producer; Paul Sieber, producer; Michael Bednar, producer; and Michael Struck, producer. The episode will be made available for free download on the film’s website soon after the premiere.
Farpoint is a Baltimore-based, science fiction media convention, held each February at Marriott’s Hunt Valley Inn, 245 Shawan Road, Hunt Valley, MD 21031. For more information, visit the Starship Farragut website.
