A few weeks ago, I mentioned The Hunt For Gollum, a slick, 30-minute Lord of the Rings fan film that’s being shot in the U.K. The folks behind it have been working away on the project for ages, and now the end is in sight; the film will hit the internet in December, 2008, and in preparation, they released a new trailer for the flick. It looks lovely—how cool must it have been to wander around in some of those places?
The flick is a prequel to J.R.R. Tolkein’s LOTR trilogy, and according to the fan film’s website, “The story follows the Heir of Isildur; the ‘greatest huntsman and traveller in Middle Earth,’ as he sets out to find the creature Gollum. The creature must be found to discover the truth about the Ring, and to protect the future Ringbearer.”
Chris Bouchard, the film’s director and creator, isn’t a newbie to fan films—he provided the music for 2005′s now-legendary Star Wars: Revelations. Bouchard is reportedly putting together the film’s volunteer visual effects staff, so if you know your way around programs like Vue, Terragen, Shake or Maya and want to get involved, contact the production staff via the film’s website.
Thanks so much for putting in the time to explore our film and write a nice comment about it… I’m one of the Producers on The Hunt For Gollum and I can’t tell you how this film with a great crew has changed some of our lives for the better… it’s also bringing more recognition and credibility for fan films. We are also planning to organise the first ever UKFanFilmFestival.com for next year!!! Kind Regards, Gladys San Juan
