There’s a few news items today, so we’ll just do ‘em in one chunk:
We start with something quite newsworthy…except that we’ve been asked not to name names while the folks involved figure out what to do next, so welcome to FCT‘s first blind item ever: What fan film got hit with a cease and desist letter during the last month, demanding that its filmmakers take the flick offline immediately and hand their website over gratis to the company that owns the world-famous franchise that the movie paid tribute to? See kids—it does happen; not every corporate entity turns a blind eye….
Some people like to refer to the city as “Indian No Place,” but the Indianapolis International Film Festival sounds like the place to be later this month if you’re a fan-film fan. While there’s a string of sci-fi material being presented throughout the weekend of Friday, April 27 through Sunday, April 29, you’ll want to check out “Fantastic Fan Films,” featuring the popular YouTube Star Wars parody series, Chad Vader; a Firefly/Serenity fan parody called Mosquito; and a fun flick that FCT reviewed some time ago, Star Trek vs Batman. The program is presented twice: Saturday at Noon and Sunday at 5PM….
Finally, that thing that caused FCT to not post a new ‘history of fan films’ segment on Friday? Still up in the air, so no news on that front. I’m sure you spent all weekend on the edge of your seat wondering about that. Well, I did….
