Horror Fan Films: Freddy, Jason, Evil Dead!

I don’t cover a lot of horror fan films here, in part ’cause I suspect that a lot of my readers may be of a tender, impressionable age—so let’s screw ‘em up. Throwing caution to the wind, in honor of Halloween coming up, let’s cover a few fan films that lean towards the bloodier side of the aisle, shall we?

• Ready for another exciting episode of the only online show about fan films? It’s Fan Film Podcast: Episode 29 with legendary fan filmer Hank Braxtan (Return of the Ghostbusters; Freddy Vs. Ghostbusters). Comic Book Bin‘s Christopher Moshier has been holding down the fort for a while now, but this episode marks the oh-so-triumphant return of Fanboy Will McKenzie of, returning to the fold.

• Every franchise has its fans—and its fan films. If you’re into the Scream trilogy, head over to Ghostface’s Blog for rumors of upcoming feature film sequels and a few of his own “Arnold Scream” fan films.

• Meanwhile, here’s a typical Friday The 13th fan flick, The Real Friday the 13th (Halloween 2008), as well as Evil Dead: The Book of the Dead (July 2008), both by MP Film Creations.

Thanks Clive for giving Fanboy Will and I another plug. This was a fun and strange interview as the hosts both were indulging in something stronger than Root Beer during the talk. Thankfully, Hank was cool with it and I think it came out pretty good. WE DO NOT do that all the time. The planet’s just happened to be aligned.
