Here’s a few Star Wars-related goodies, and unusually, two of ‘em are musically inclined….
MANDALORIAN DANCE
This 51-second flick, Mandalorian Dance, has been out for a little over a month, and I’ve been meaning to post it—a stop-motion animation fan film featuring Boba Fett shakin’ it loose, Flashdance-style. Made by Patrick Boivin, this had me cracking up, plus it actually builds to an ending.
STAR WARS THE MUSICAL INTERVIEW
It’s not a musical interview, but rather an interview about a musical. These guys won a special award at the annual Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge a few years ago, for the CGI music video they made just to showcase the Andrew Lloyd Webber-esque “One Season More” from their proposed musical. I’ve shown this one a few times in the fan film programs I do at libraries, and it is easily the most divisive one I’ve ever screened for people—they either love it or hate it with a passion. Music is a funny thing, ain’t it? Anyway, Prodigeek interviewed the duo behind the flick.
STAR WARS FAN FILM SITE
Here’s another overview site on fan films that aims to catalog and link to as many fan movies dealing with the Force as possible. It’s moderately bare-bones at the moment, but they’re definitely making inroads.
COMING SOON: COSTA RICAN FAN FILM
Likely the first Star Wars fan film made in Costa Rica, Kingdom of Fear looks pretty darn cool, and it’s being produced by professionals in the country’s video industry; you can check out a at YouTube.
